G.Skill announced a new DDR5 memory kit with 7000MT/s speed and CL40-40-40-76 latencies, the fastest kit announced to date. The kit includes two 16GB modules for a total capacity of 32GB and uses Samsung chips, which generally have the best speed-to-latency ratio.
According to the company, this is the first time such a high frequency has been achieved with air cooling that is stable enough to pass a meme test. In the labs, all of the above results were achieved with liquid nitrogen, which we’ll likely see this Thursday when the embargo on Alder Lake processors and Z690 motherboards ends.
G.Skill also announced that it currently offers the fastest Intel-certified DDR5 kit after Intel certified the Trident Z5 kit at 6666 MHz. None of the competing companies have certified a kit above 5200 MHz, so G.Skill currently holds the podium in this area by a wide margin.
There is no pricing or availability information on this new 7000MT/s kit yet, as there are probably only a few chips that can reach this frequency, and there are not enough kits on the market yet. For this very reason, they won’t be cheap, so we’ll probably have to settle for a 5200MT/s or at most 6000MT/s kit.
