AppleInsider reports that Apple may not release a foldable iPhone until 2025 at the earliest, according to display analysts, but there are rumors that the company is working on a foldable screen for a future MacBook Pro.
Many Android brands are launching or planning to launch foldable phones this year. Meanwhile, Apple doesn’t seem to be in such a hurry to launch a foldable iPhone, although the company is apparently already working on one. Although this wouldn’t be the only device with a foldable screen that the brand is developing, we can also expect a MacBook.
Display analysts say they’ve received word that Apple is now interested in developing some sort of foldable laptop around 20 inches.” This size could create a new category for Apple and would result in a truly dual-purpose product, a laptop with a full-size keyboard when folded, used as a display when not folded, and used with an external keyboard, it could also allow for UHD/4K resolution or even higher at that size. The time frame is likely to be later than 2025 though, possibly 2026 or 2027.
Apple is working on a MacBook with a foldable screen
Cupertino is reportedly working on a laptop that would have a foldable screen, or at least is currently exploring that option.
Betting on foldable
Apple has been working on its foldable iPhone for some time now, which is not expected to be released until 2025 at the earliest. So, the American company would come a few years later than its main competitors in this market segment. Not only are they working on a foldable iPhone, but they are also thinking about a MacBook with a foldable screen. This would make the company’s laptop even more versatile.
This laptop would have a 20-inch screen. This screen could be folded at a 90-degree angle, making it more versatile. The size is significantly larger than the brand’s other laptops, so this launch would create a new product category.
But until this foldable-screen MacBook hits the market, we’ll have to wait a while. According to Apple’s plans, this model wouldn’t be ready until 2026 or 2027, so the foldable iPhone would hit the market first. Apple has an interest in foldable panels, but it will be a while before we see the company use them for its products.
