The Facebook team continues to implement new transparency measures. This time, the changes affect advertisers and the Pages, which will have to make the ads active on the platform visible.
The idea is that any user can find out about the advertisements published by certain organisations or brands by consulting the “Information and Announcements” section of their respective Facebook Pages.
This dynamic applies to ads published on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger or partners. All of them will be displayed in the new section, visible to all users logged in to Facebook, regardless of whether they are part of the target audience or not.
Along with some of the information in the ad, users will be given an option to report it, if they believe that any element of the content is suspicious. Each report will go through a review process, complementing the internal work and dynamics of Facebook’s algorithms to detect any irregularities.
On the other hand, the Pages will start to show more information, regardless of whether they have ads or not. For example, date of creation of the Pages, changes made in the last time, among other details.
These new measures seek to ensure the transparency of the presence of organizations and brands on the platform, especially their advertising dynamics.
