Docks made by third parties are rendering some Nintendo Switches useless

According to a report from Kotaku that reported several warnings from various users, there are cases of Nintendo Switch systems that are being bricked up (disabled) by the use of docks made by third parties. This problem would mostly affect users of the dock manufactured by Nyko, although some cases have already been reported with other docks of other brands.

According to Nyko, the problem appears to have arisen after the console’s 5.0 update, which would have made some unknown changes to the USB Type C connector on the bottom of the console. This connector, in addition to managing the load, outputs the USB HUB and HDMI output of the console, so it is feared that some change related to the management of this port and how they load the private docks has caused this problem.

Nintendo, for its part, appears to be accepting damaged consoles for repair and repairing them if they are under warranty, which is for all cases, given that no more than a year has passed since their release. Unfortunately, the bracket of the console implies losing all the information saved from our games, since Nintendo does not offer the possibility of keeping in the cloud or extracting the games saved to external memory.

Nintendo also appears to have released an emergency update for the system in recent days, which seems to have been aimed at solving this problem but has not yet been confirmed by any dock manufacturer to be the case. We will be watching for new information.
