This would be the design of LG’s folding mobile

It seems that Samsung is not the only manufacturer that is working on a folding mobile. To the already known terminal of ZTE, LG now adds. Or at least that’s what the images discovered by GSMinfo seem to show.

These are illustrations of a patent filed by the Korean company. In them, you can see what appears to be a folding mobile, with two screens that fold over one another. Apparently, the patent was filed in July 2017, although it was made public last week.

Apart from the published drawings, the patent does not give practically data. We do not see possible modes of use, nor of course technical data. Even so, the images to lead us to imagine how this terminal could be. The first thing we see is that the terminal opens to become a tablet.

We also see two circles in the back. One of them looks like the primary camera, but the other is located in the lower corner of the front. It could be a front camera, but it seems like a circle too big.

We also see that the possible LG folding phone would include the Always On Display function. Apparently, when the phone is folded, one of the parties shows the time, as does the LG V30.

Through the published images we cannot know many more data. Although it is a clear symbol that the company is interested in this type of device, it is still only a patent.

However, it seems that LG sees the mobile folding differently from Samsung. As we could already see, the  Samsung Galaxy X  would fold on high. That is, once folded, it would be smaller and thicker than what we see in the LG patent.

LG’s proposal is more similar to ZTE Axon M, but with a more refined design. At least that’s what it seems in the published images.

The terminal of the Chinese company is quite innovative, but it seems thicker. Also, the design of the screens differentiates the two panels. However, LG’s folding mobile appears to have a uniform screen when it is opened. We will see if this patent finally comes to materialize in a future device. But it is clear that companies see folding mobile as the future of mobile telephony.
