We have information on the Intel Core i9-12900KS, with a new benchmark surfacing on Geekbench. The Core i9-12900KS has 8 P-Cores plus 8 E-Cores and 30MB L3 cache like the current Core i9-12900K. The P-Core single/dual-core RWD has been increased from 5.0GHz to 5.5GHz, the full core RWD has been increased from 4.9GHz to 5.2GHz, and the base power consumption has been increased from 125W to 150W The base power consumption has also been increased from 125W to 150W, and the maximum RWD has been increased to 260W.
The processor has now been tested on the ASUS ROG STRIX Z690-F motherboard with 32GB of DDR5-4800 RAM, and it scored 2080 to 2101 on Geekbench 5 for a single core and 18962 to 19010 for a multi-core.
Intel Core i9-12900KS @ 5.5 GHz is spotted on Geekbench
The Intel Core i9-12900KS is a souped-up version of the traditional 12900K desktop module that can reach 5.5 GHz.
This processor features a 16-core, 24-thread configuration with a boost clock of 5.5 GHz, about 300 MHz above the ‘K’ model. This processor was unveiled at CES 2022 in January, but so far there is no news on its launch.
The power consumption of the processor is 150 W, which can go up to 260 W, 20 W more than the K model.
Power tests
The Core i9-12900KS has been paired with the ASUS ROG STRIX Z690-F Gaming CPU motherboard and 32GB DDR5-4800 memory.
In tests, Intel’s processor scores between 2080 and 2101 points in single-core tests and between 18962 and 19010 points in multi-thread tests, all on Geekbench 5.
Compared to the ‘K’ model, the KS is 5% faster in single-core and 10% faster in multi-threaded.
Although Intel hasn’t said anything about the launch, it is expected to happen in the next few weeks (early March). The price is expected to be around $750.
