Chrome will add support for transmitting local files with Chromecast

Google Chrome will add a new option, which will make it easier to watch the content we have on our computer on TV.

For some time now, Google Chrome has been offering the option of streaming content directly on TV using Chromecast. We can stream any video or multimedia content that is on the web, a browser tab or the desktop.

But this Google Chrome dynamic doesn’t work if you want to view content stored on your computer. This is about to change, as according to François Beaufort, the Google Chrome team is testing a new mode, which will allow us to transmit audio or video files from our PC.

The process is simple, it follows the same dynamic we already know: we select Transmit, and we choose the option shown in the image:

Selecting this option will open a window to select the local file we want to transmit to the TV.

At the moment, these tests are being carried out on Chrome’s beta channel, but if you are impatient and want to test this dynamic, you have the possibility to do it following the steps detailed by François Beaufort, in the post he shared on Google Plus.

The rest will have to watch out for the next versions of Google Chrome, as we don’t know when this new option will be presented in a stable version.
