AMD launches Radeon PRO W6400 graphics card, including mainstream workstation products and notebook products

AMD Radeon PRO W6000 series of workstation graphics cards expand to include the Radeon Pro W6400 for desktop platforms and the Radeon Pro W6500M and W6300M for mobile platforms. These cards are designed to deliver superior, reliable, and stable performance to professional users such as CAD designers and engineers. The new workstation graphics cards are all powered by the Navi 24-core, AMD’s latest RDNA 2 architecture GPU manufactured in TSMC’s 6nm process.

The Radeon Pro W6400 features 12 CUs or 768 stream processors with 16MB of infinite cache, an FP32 compute performance of 3.54T FLOPS, 4GB of GDDR6 memory at 16Gbps, and a 64-bit memory bit width. The form factor is a single-slot, half-height card with a TDP of 50W that comes with two DSC and audio-enabled DisplayPort 1.4 ports.

AMD officially introduces its Radeon PRO W6400 workstation graphics card.

AMD Radeon PRO W6400: A 50 workstation card

This would be a graphics card for low-end workstations and computers that consume little power to run. The Radeon PRO W6400 only has a TDP of 50W and uses the Navi 24 chip.

Interestingly, this would be the first graphics card from AMD to use a 6nm process node.

AMD uses the same silicon that is used in the RX 6400 model, although this model is only sold as an OEM unit. The Navi 24 is equipped with 768 stream processors and a memory capacity of 4 GB GDDR6 with a 64-bit memory bus. The memory speed is 14 Gbit/s and it has 16 MB of cache memory.

The Radeon PRO W6400 uses a full PCIe 4.0 slot with only four lanes connected to the GPU, similar to the recently released RX 6500 XT model.

The model is intended for low-end workstations that don’t need a lot of processing power, and also offers the benefits of a GPU with only 50 W TDP.

There are three models in the series: W6800 with Navi 21, W6600 with Navi 23, and W6400 with Navi 24.

AMD has not provided pricing for this model, and we don’t know any other details, such as encoding/decoding capabilities.
