A filtration (by TUM_APISAK) revealed the existence of a chip called AMD Gonzalo, a SoC with Zen core and Navi-GPU in the same encapsulation.
At CES 2019, Microsoft confirmed that it plans to continue working with AMD on future products, suggesting that the next generation of XBOX will be another system with AMD technology.
For future consoles, AMD has a range of hardware upgrades to choose from, with an upgrade from the core Xbox One Jaguar CPU to AMD’s new Zen architecture, which is at the top of the list of upgrades for XBOX consoles and also for PlayStation 4. Microsoft also has the option to adopt the Navi architecture and take advantage of Vega’s useful features such as 2x FP16 processing power, which AMD calls “Rapid Packed Math”.
TUM_APISAK, a reliable source that has already filtered other PC hardware, has introduced a new chip called AMD Gonzalo, a new SoC for games that could serve as the basis for a future XBOX console.
AMD code 2G16002CE8JA2_32/10/10_13E9 can mean many things, but based on the older AMD products we can assume that the “G” means game, where the D in the older AMD product codes refers to desktop, M for mobile phone, etc.. The 32 probably represents a turbo clock frequency of 3.2 GHz, while the 10_13E9 is a potential reference to a Radeon graphics chip, where TUM_APISAK calls it Navi 10 Lite.
At the moment it is not known whether this chip is based on AMD’s Zen-2 architecture or not, but the Gonzalo code refers to an eight-core processor with an unknown L3 cache size. If this product is 7nm, the use of Zen 2 cores is more likely.
Aside from AMD technology, Microsoft has been able to use it for its console. It is rumored that Sony was a significant investor in the development of AMD’s Navi GPU architecture, which enabled this silicon to serve as the foundation for its PlayStation 5 console.
