AMD has just made it easier to integrate FSR 2.0 for Unreal Engine 4 and 5. All users and game developers can now implement this technology without much effort in their games developed with Unreal Engine.
AMD has released the FSR 2.0 plugin for the Unreal Engine 4/5
Unreal Engine is the most widely used graphics engine in video games, especially UE4. However, the recent Unreal Engine 5 is also getting it thanks to the interoperability that exists between the two versions.
AMD has just released the FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 (FSR 2.0) plugins for Unreal Engine 4 and Unreal Engine 5, which are facilitated through GPU Open.
This initiative will see many games with Unreal Engine begin to upgrade to support FSR 2.0, which is AMD’s game scaling technology, which improves game performance at the cost of losing a bit of image sharpness as the image is scaled from a lower resolution.
FidelityFX Super Resolution is AMD’s answer to DLSS technology from Nvidia, which does exactly the same thing in supported games and with supported graphics cards. Intel also has a similar technology called XeSS.
At the moment, the number of games with FSR isn’t that extensive, but this initiative will help increase that number with more compatible games. We’ll keep you posted on what’s new.
