Agony may well be one of the most interesting games in recent times as far as its art and character direction is concerned: it is a kind of malfunction between the designs of HR Giger and a particularly unpleasant Escher-esque metamorphosis that went wrong. Many of their pre-release design touches promised an intransigent and mentally demanding experience (whether or not that translates into a good video game is, of course, something completely different). Of course, that also calls into question the issue of ratings, and this affects a game’s ability to enter some markets.
As a result, the developer of Agony Madmind Studio worked to dilute the graphic freedoms with Agony, trying as a result to get more open ratings, but at the same time, he promised users an official uncensored patch that would take the game to its creators. original vision.
However, things are not as bad as they might seem: Madmind Studios said that the patch to circumvent censorship is unnecessary because censorship itself only takes place at two of the seven possible endgames, changing the image for a few seconds at each of those two affected endings. As such, and also to avoid certain legal problems, the company has decided not to release the patch. Tomorrow, at the launch of Agony, developer Madmind will release comparison videos that show users the differences between the censored ones.
