Following the operating system upgrade, users can take advantage of Google’s Daydream View or Huawei’s Daydream headsets. ZTE Axon 7 users will have access to the same content on this platform.

The ZTE Axon 7 boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 2.15GHz quad-core processor and a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen, ensuring high-definition images and excellent visual quality. Weighing just 175 grams, it’s lightweight and comfortable to wear without exerting pressure on the nose or face. It also features Dolby Atmos for a superior audio experience. While it may not have the most powerful configuration, its affordability makes it a compelling choice.

Currently, the ZTE Axon 7 stands as one of the most budget-friendly Daydream-compatible smartphones on the market. The 64GB model is priced at just $384 and is available on Amazon, in contrast to the $680 cost of the 32GB Google Pixel or the $449 price of the Moto Z. Furthermore, the Huawei Mate 9 Pro and ASUS ZenFone AR will also offer Daydream support in the future.

Is the ZTE Axon 7 the Most Affordable Google Daydream Smartphone?

In terms of hardware, the Axon 7 is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, a 5.5-inch high-definition AMOLED display, 4GB of RAM, a 20MP hybrid rear camera, an 8MP front camera, dual Hi-Fi speakers, Dolby Atmos surround sound, and dual SIM card slots.

“The Nougat update for the Axon 7 provides consumers with an optimized experience and added value,” said Cheng Lixin, Executive Director of ZTE America. “With Daydream certification, consumers can now enjoy an affordable VR experience firsthand.”

However, during the recent platform release, Google noted that the Daydream mobile VR platform may not be compatible with many existing mobile phones. With the ZTE Axon 7 now on the list, could it be that one day, even the Samsung Galaxy series of smartphones will gain Daydream support through an update?
