YouTube has started testing a new section in the mobile app. This means Discover and is intended to facilitate access to new materials and channels in the popular service. The tests are performed in the Creator Insider channel. YouTube believes that in this way it will be able to deliver content that users would not normally see.
YouTube offers several ways to recommend content to your site, and you’ve recently started testing a new section called Recommendations for you. This is not the end, because a pilot program for a new tab in the mobile application called Discover has now been announced. It should be another way to suggest videos or channels from YouTube.
The Discover section of YouTube shows the Creator Insider channel. It will be accessible to 1% of iPhone users, which means that owners of Google smartphones will have to care about taste for now. How exactly should the new card work? This is explained in the following video by Tom Leung, product manager at YouTube.
In this way, we can see that YouTube wants to share content that is not normally recommended for users of the service through other channels. This applies not only to new films but also to channels and video topics. However, the function still works on an algorithmic basis. This means that the “Discover” tab will select content based on your previous movies or subscriptions.
Right now this is an experiment and you don’t know exactly when YouTube will decide to launch the Discover section for all users. This will certainly happen over time. For the time being, the company will seek opinions on the functioning of this function.
