X300, Toshiba Announces 10TB for Gaming and Premium PCs
At the heart of its classic hard drive offerings, Toshiba announces three new models. They concern the N300 range for NAS (Network Attached Storage), the X300 Performance Hard Drive offer for gaming PCs and the L200 for consumer laptops.
The N300 is in 3.5-inch format. Its mechanics are designed to meet the needs of personal, home and small business network storage applications. This family increases its storage capacity with 10 TB. The machine has 256 MB of buffer memory and offers a rotation speed of 7,200 rpm. It is announced with maximum data rates of 248 MB/s.
For its part, the X300 Performance Hard Drive family alias X300 keeps the same shape factor of 3.5 inches. It is enriched with a 10 TB model in addition to 8, 6, 5 and 4 TB capacities. Its mechanics take advantage of Dynamic Cache technology supposed to optimize cache allocation during reading/write phases. Its rotation speed is calibrated at 7,200 rpm, and its buffer memory is 256 MB.
Finally, the L200 Laptop PC Hard Drive series in 2.5-inch format is revisited. It now has a maximum capacity of 2 TB. These HDDs come in two sizes (7 and 9.5 mm thick) and three capacity options (500 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB). The new 2 TB / 9.5 mm and 1 TB / 7 mm models offer 128 MB cache memory.
These new models will be available in May 2018.
