The latest release of Windows 10 Redstone 5 comes with several changes. The file explorer is at least changing its appearance.
Microsoft continues the evolution of Windows 10 design in small steps. While Fluent Design is at the heart of this policy, the giant is also working on themes with a dark theme, the “Dark Theme”. It is now available in the Windows 10 Redstone 5 file explorer.
The discovery took place in the build 17661 available for users of the Skip Ahead option and the fast ring of the Insider program.
Windows 10 Redstone 5, the Dark Theme is available for file explorer
By default, this style change is not enabled. To take advantage of it, it is necessary to use a utility named Mach 2. It allows the development features of Windows 10.
A screenshot posted on Twitter shows the different evolutions implemented. Now, this theme for the file explorer touches the right pane and address bar. It is important to note that we are in a development framework. Implementation is still in its infancy. This early arrival is likely to benefit from improvements over the months. The objective is naturally to achieve a more “refined” rendering.
Windows 10 Redstone 5 will be the second major update of Windows 10 from 2018. Its launch is scheduled for next autumn. So Microsoft still has time. It is possible that this dark theme will face its official appearance in the coming months on the occasion of the release of a new Redstone 5 build.
