Since the release of Windows 10, Microsoft wants to transform the desktop of its OS. This requires a gradual implementation of Fluent Design. This new design language is not totally unknown since some parts are already implemented.

For example, the latest version of the operating system, Windows 10 April 2018 highlights the Acrylic effect in several applications and functionality. It is indicative of some of the expected changes. Unfortunately, this facelift evolves slowly. Clearly, Microsoft takes its time and advances at small steps. It is therefore difficult to have an idea of the final objective but the firm knows exactly where it wants to go.
Windows 10 and Fluent Design
To convince yourself of this, a demo published on the Twitter @WindowsUI account unveils an advanced implementation of Fluent Design in the “Contoso business” application. As the video below shows we have the implementation of fluid animations and a rather neat visual. The “Acrylic” effect becomes dynamic by adapting its rendering according to the options chosen.
The next version of Windows 10, Redstone 5, should allow Fluent Design to continue its evolution and implementation in the OS. The first constructions do not yet propose any improvement in this direction.
Time will tell if Microsoft wants to accelerate or not this “looking”. On the other hand, it is certain that Windows 10 needs work on this question because it always proposes a marriage of the old and the new.
