Microsoft equips Windows 10 with its home antivirus, Windows Defender. Over time, this application has evolved. Are these improvements enough for Windows Defender to be reliable enough to ensure the security of this operating system? Is it still necessary to install a third-party antivirus?
Windows Defender is a “star” software at Microsoft. It comes free with Windows 10 and provides system security and is capable of going into standby mode if a concurrent application is installed. Since the launch of this OS, it has evolved. Now it is part of several security elements.
With the release of Windows 10 April 2018 Update, Microsoft brings this little world together in one place. This is the Windows Defender Security Center.
From a unified interface, it is possible to act on antivirus, account protection, firewall, application control and many other things. Windows Defender is enabled by default. It works on all Windows 10 devices and acts as a complete antivirus product. The software benefits from frequent updates and offers real-time protection.
According to Microsoft, the Windows 10 and Windows Defender duo makes it possible to offer “the most secure version of Windows”.
Windows Defender, constantly improving performance
If at first, its performance did not allow it to be among the best solutions on the market, things have changed.
Tests show that Microsoft’s solution has made significant progress. In one of its latest studies, AVTest reveals a balanced balance sheet with 5.5 out of 6 ratings for protection, system impact and ease of use.
Windows Defender is now better equipped to ensure the security of Windows 10. Can we talk about successful antivirus capable of replacing all other solutions? Maybe or at least it takes the way but we’re talking about antivirus and not a security suite.
And you, does Windows Defender ensure the security of your PC?
