Two months after the announcement at F8 – the Facebook Developer Conference – WhatsApp group video calls are becoming a reality.
iOS and Android users can now use this new feature. The only requirement is that the latest version of the application is installed on the device.
Up to four people can participate in group video calls from WhatsApp at the same time. The conversation uses, like the rest of the application, peer-to-peer encryption to protect the privacy of users.
The company says they’ve optimized the performance of video calls for a good experience even on slow connections.
“In recent years, our users have enjoyed making calls and video calls through WhatsApp. So much so that they spend a total of more than 2 billion minutes a day in calls,” the American company said in a statement.
