It is quite possible that we are in WhatsApp groups that are designed to receive information without the possibility of participating (legally) according to the rules of the creators of these groups. From now on it will be possible to restrict participation in the groups, but it can be configured to prevent members of the groups who are not administrators from sending their messages.
This novelty is beginning to be deployed from today to Android, iOS and Windows Phone, according to WABetainfo, pointing out that for this it will be advisable to have the latest version of the application for each of the mobile platforms to quickly get this feature, although it is likely that previous versions also allow to receive it.
With this new feature, the experience that users have been receiving so far is completely changed. Administrators can set this restriction through the “Send message” option, which allows all group members to send messages by default, or only administrators to do so.
In the latter case, the rest of the members will not have the usual text editing field, showing a screen alert where they are only told that they cannot post messages.
The messaging platform offers other members the option of communicating with their administrators so that they can either change their settings temporarily or publish those messages that the members wish to communicate with others.
Administrators can change this configuration at any time they wish, taking into account that in its development phase, it only allowed one change every 72 hours, a limit that has just been eliminated.
