The changing of the phone number in WhatsApp is always a bit tricky. WhatsApp is testing a new feature to fix it. Until today, this tool had a small problem, and that is that even if our information migrated, our contacts were not sure that our phone number had changed, having to manually send a message to all our contacts (or at least, those we are interested in) with this new number. WhatsApp has decided to put an end to this inconvenience by improving its tool for changing the phone number.

As WABetaInfo informs us, this feature is being deployed by WhatsApp to users of the beta version, with version 2.18.97. If you have not yet received this update, you can download it from APKMirror, although we remind you that it is a beta version, and therefore may contain errors.

Wondering how this new change works? It’s easy:

Go to Settings -> Account -> Change Number. We will have to enter our current number and our new phone number to make the change. The new feature is that from now on, before making the change, you will inform us if we want to notify our contacts of the number change. The options proposed by the application are the following:

Do not notify: You will not notify any of our contacts.
Notify users you have a conversation with: Only users you have an open chat with.
Customize: Manually choose which users you want to let know your new number. Yeah, not everyone has to know him.
Once confirmed, the users we have chosen will receive the information in a chat. Please note that all groups you are in will also be notified.

The question is, what if someone we don’t want to know about the number change is in a group?

For the moment, this feature is in the beta version, but it will only be a matter of time before it reaches all users.
