Video game market continues to break sales records with a total of 10.5 billion dollars in April

The video game market reached a record turnover of $10.5 billion in April, proving the strength of the extended playing time due to the quarantine.

The restrictions, which began in March, had a major impact on demand for video games in April, as revenues in April not only surpassed those of March but rose by 17% compared to April 2019 ($8.9 billion).

New milestone achieved for video game market

Revenues increased year-on-year across all platforms: On the mobile side they were up 14%, while on the PC side they were up 12%. The biggest increase was in consoles, where revenues were up 42% year-on-year. Here is a list of the best-selling titles on PCs, consoles and mobile phones:

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is again the best-selling console game of the month, with 3.6 million units sold. The anticipated remake of Final Fantasy VII sold a total of 2.2 million digital copies in the first three days after 3.5 million copies sold, setting new records for the franchise and exclusive PlayStation titles. Finally, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered showed that there is still a demand for single-player games, with 3.4 million units sold in April.
