Twitter once again reinforces its position as a social news platform with the latest release that is deploying to all users globally, both on the web and through its mobile applications.
Twitter begins to highlight the news shared in the timelines
In this sense, it is launching a new feature that, basically, highlights in the main timelines themselves those news items that have been shared by users who have been followed, where also, underneath this highlighted news items are grouped all the tweets of those users who are followed who have made some kind of mention of this news item.
The arrival of this feature has been confirmed by a Twitter spokesperson for the digital publication BuzzFeed News. This is the last movement to date of all those that have taken place in recent years to turn Twitter into a reference site for information.
Other recent moves have included live video broadcasts of breaking news bulletins in collaboration with television networks or the experiment it has been conducting for the past month that places prominent tweets of news sources at the top of users’ timelines when high-profile events occur, among many others.
