Tor Project, which is behind the creation of Tor Browser, which focuses on privacy and anonymity, today reported in its blog that the mobile version of this tool for users of Android devices has been launched.
According to the official announcement by Tor Project, the main reason for the development of this solution is the increase in mobile browsing worldwide, which in some regions is the only way to get access to the Internet. In this sense, the development team declares that these users are not exempt from online censorship and monitoring, so last year they thought about how to better support them.
The company has therefore decided to develop the mobile version of this browser for Android, which promises unprecedented data protection, in line with the benefits of its desktop version, which has already reached the 7.0 version launched in June last year.
MysteryBot, the Android malware that combines Trojan, Keylogger and Ransomware features.
The app development team makes it clear that it is necessary to install a tool called Orbot, which is a proxy app that allows Tor browsers to connect to the Tor network. In this sense, Tor Project has made it clear that it will not be necessary to download this additional app in future versions of the mobile browser. As for the iOS users, there is still no good news from the developers, although they recommend using the onion browser.
At the moment it is an alpha version, which means that Tor Browser for Android is going through a testing phase before it will be released in a stable version in early 2019 according to Tor Project. To get the Tor Browser for Android app, simply go to the official website that the company has released for download, or go to the Google Play Store and follow the link.
