Last month we commented that one of the hidden features found in the Instagram app code was the possibility of adding music to stories, although little was known about their dynamics.

Now that it has been officially announced, we can learn about its potential and how it can enrich the Stories we want to share at Instagram. The idea is that users can add soundtracks to their Stories, having the possibility to choose from thousands of songs.

There are two ways to use this function. One of them is to go directly to the stickers, and choose the one that corresponds to Music, as we see in the image:

When choosing this gif we will find a search engine and different filters to find the music we want, as shown in the second image.

So, if we are looking for a specific song, the search engine will be enough, but if we are looking for inspiration we can take a look at Popular, or filter the music according to genre, mood, etc.

Once we have the soundtrack, we can listen to it to edit it and choose the exact part of the song we want to hear in our story. On the other hand, those who use Instagram from iOS, have another option to add music.

You can choose the soundtrack you want before recording the video for the story, choosing Music at the bottom of the screen, to open the browser and the rest of the options mentioned above.

Users who view the story we have created will be able to listen to the song we have chosen, and will also see a sticker with the name of the song and the artist.

According to the Instagram team, this feature will be deployed as part of version 51, but only in selected countries.
