There has been a lot of discussion these days about how Motorola could bring an updated version of its legendary RAZR V3 to the market, almost in the same retro look as the original, with the special feature that when opened, users would stand in front of a smartphone with an integrated folding screen, which also has a small secondary screen on the outside at the top to access alerts and much more.
In fact, The Wall Street Journal reported days ago that Motorola had planned to relaunch RAZR, but already as a smartphone and with a wall screen that would be available at a price of about $1,500 and could be presented as early as February next year.
Now, days later, there is new news that reinforces the idea of this alleged relaunch.
As originally discovered in the publication 91Mobiles, Motorola Mobility filed a new patent for this device with WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) on December 17th, although the RAZR patent is not mentioned, even though it is based on the sketches. The designs are reminiscent of the original RAZR V3, which came onto the market in 2004, although the critics might not like it at all, because as can be seen in the sketches, the foldable inner screen would also have a notch, as in the screens of Apple mobile phones.
According to rumors, this new RAZR model is exclusive to Verizon, at least in the United States, where only 200,000 units will be produced. Whether it will be launched in international markets is not yet known.
