To this end, the new Google Fit is based on collaboration between the American Heart Association (AHA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) and is divided into two basic pillars to motivate users to exercise: minutes of movement and heart points.

The aim of the movement protocols is to motivate users to change small daily habits for healthier ones, such as using the lift on the stairs, while the heart points give points based on the physical activities they perform, such as walking, running or cycling, and more points, depending on the intensity of the activities.

The application automatically detects when the user begins to perform physical activities, either via the mobile phone or via the smartwatch, to calculate the heart points allocated to the user. In addition, the application is compatible with third-party applications such as Strava or Runkeeper to count minutes of movement and award heart points.

It will also offer personalized training and practical advice based on users’ health status and activity history.

The new Google Fit will reach all users of Android mobile phones or smart clocks under Wear OS starting this week.
