The tourist submarine lost in its attempt to reach the ruins of the Titanic was controlled by a Logitech F710 Wireless, a joystick designed for PCs. Despite being released in 2010, this model is still manufactured by the company.
The joystick operates at 2.4 GHz and connects to the USB receiver, offering dual vibration and compatibility with Xinput and Directinput formats. Visually, it resembles Microsoft’s Xbox 360 controller, but features additional buttons to facilitate different modes, depending on the desired experience.
Although the joystick is unlikely to be the cause of the submarine’s disappearance, its use to transport lives and perform complex tasks generates distrust of the company responsible. Authorities, such as the U.S. government and the Coast Guard, are conducting searches, but at the time of this writing, no sign of the vehicle has been found.
The Logitech F710 Wireless was launched 13 years ago, in 2010.
The Titan Saga is about a tourist submarine created by OceanGate Expeditions, used for tours of the Titanic. Sadly, the submarine disappeared after its last transmission 13,000 feet under the sea near Cape Cod, leaving no sign.
On the submarine were Hamish Harding, a British billionaire and adventure enthusiast, along with Stockon Rush, founder and CEO of OceanGate Expeditions. In addition, there were three other people on board, whose names and occupations have not been officially disclosed. Following an analysis, it was discovered that the vehicle does not comply with established regulations, raising questions about the company’s practices in terms of manufacturing and use of materials.
It is important to note that the submarine has an oxygen tank that provides approximately four days of supply. However, time is running out and its capacity is estimated to be exhausted between today and tomorrow.
