After the delayed release of The Last of Us 2, it appeared that voices were providing players with a demo version for journalists to play before. This way, players who were longing to get their game back could at least get a replacement.
The Last of Us 2 delayed for an indefinite period of time
The vice president of The Last of Us 2 explained the reasons for this in the official PlayStation Blogcast radio play. According to Gaming Bolt, Neil Druckman said that releasing a demo to the press at a controlled event was completely different from releasing a demo to a larger audience. Since this version of the game was shown to journalists, many production improvements have also been made. Druckman added that creating a demo would require an enormous amount of work that they don’t want to put on their team. The studio prefers to dedicate these efforts to the completion of the game itself.
The Last of Us is one of the most important exclusive games on PlayStation. Millions of players are waiting for the game, but on April 2nd, Naughty Dog announced that the release was again postponed. The game was originally scheduled for release in February, but was subsequently postponed to 29 May 2020, and is now indefinitely postponed. The creators did not give a specific date and justified their decision with logistical problems independent of them. They did not mention the ongoing crisis directly, but you can read it between the lines.
Naughty Dog is not the first company that had to postpone the premiere because of this – you will have to wait longer for Wasteland 3 and Minecraft Dungeons and Marvel’s Iron Man in VR. Fortunately, these problems don’t apply to the hit of “Polish CD Projekt” and “Cyberpunk 2077”.
