The Last of Us 2 will be one of the main contributors to say goodbye to PlayStation 4, a title that came to be one of the first exclusive titles for the console. The arrival of the new The Last of Us 2 will certainly move the ground for many players who are waiting for it after its successful predecessor. This new episode will be set several years after the first one and will continue to tell the story of Ellie, who seems to have left Joel behind and continued her life without him. After several date changes, it will be released on 29 May 2020 on Playstation 4.

The Last Of Us 2 and Playstation 5

Although the major launch of Playstation 5 is expected later this year, there is still no mention of a version for the new console. Currently, the first part of the franchise is available in its original version on PS3, but a year and a month after the original release, the revised version was also released on PS4.

American actress Ashley Johnson will once again be the voice of the game’s main character.

Troy Baker, one of the most renowned dubbing actors in recent years, will once again play the role of Joel, a character dubbed by Claudio Serrano, known as the voice of Christian Bale in the Batman saga. Both actors also performed the motion capture of their characters, as in the first part of the saga.

The title should have its participation at PAX East in Boston, United States, one of the most important video game events of the year, where the first playable demo could be tested. However, this PlayStation has canceled its participation due to the company’s concerns about Coronavirus. This was a low blow for the event, which runs from 27 February to 1 March, and for players who wanted to see a preview of the game.

Naughty Dog, the studio responsible for The Last of Us and Uncharted, announced the Playstation update and commented: “We’re very sad to miss PAX East! We were really looking forward to meeting them and seeing their reactions to the demo. Although we know that this makes waiting for May 29th more difficult, we appreciate your understanding. Don’t worry, we’ll have more to tell as the release approaches.

However, the reviewers who have already had the opportunity to test the game fill it with praise, so it’s very likely that Naughty Dog has maintained its level of success. This could mean that we can already take a look at one of the possible GOTY nominations of the year, which is still missing as there will be a lot of competition, including last year’s Star Wars Jedi: The Fallen Order, which could go down as a nomination this year.

New Novelties in Game

The ESRB rankings, on the other hand, are a little ahead of the game, as they are rated on blood and gore, intense violence, nudity, sexual content, language, and drug use. The appearance of something sexual is something new for the franchise, as it was not included in the previous delivery.

The Last of Us II is now available for pre-order in 4 versions: Collector’s Edition, Special Edition, Digital Deluxe Edition, and the Standard Edition. The most complete, the Collector’s Edition, is designed to satisfy fans of the franchise, as it includes a steel book, a 30cm tall figure of Ellie, a mini-illustration book from Dark Horse Publishing, bracelets and special avatars from PSN.

The Last of Us 2 will arrive on 29 May exclusively for PlayStation 4.
