The Intel Core i7-9700K can be overclocked at 5.5 GHz

It seems that the i7-9700K is already in the hands of several Chinese retail stores, resulting in interesting data about this chip and its overclocking capabilities.

The i7-9700K can reach 5.5 GHz with liquid cooling.

The last leak came from the CPU.ZOL page, which shows us two screenshots of the Core i7-9700K chip tested on Cinebench. To keep the processor cool at 5.5 GHz, a liquid-cooled ASRock Z370 Professional Gaming i7 motherboard was installed.

The Core i7-9700K is one of the two 8-core CPUs of the Coffee Lake Refresh (Coffee Lake-S) line. Unlike the Core i9-9900K, the i7 does not support HyperThreading and comes with the welded IHS. Intel’s strategy with this step is to make the new i9 series with HyperThreading enabled more attractive, although they personally think it makes the i7 series less attractive compared to Ryzen (A Ryzen 5 2600X allows 12 threads).

The Cinebench R15 was used as a benchmark, with the new CPU scoring 1827 or 250 points in multi-thread and single-core tests. This puts the Ryzen 7 2700X and 200 points above the Core i7-8700K, which it would essentially replace. The performance of a single thread can be considered a great performance, and a Z390 motherboard was not required to achieve that score.
