Temtem is a new video game that has arrived at Kickstarter, it is a collector’s adventure of creatures in a massively multiplayer world, in which players capture wild creatures called Temtem, train them and fight with them in an adventure that spans six islands.
I’m sure many of you are thinking that this is exactly a Pokémon game and you’re right, since Temtem is based very much on the Nintendo video game series. In addition, there are better visual graphics, multiplayer support and MMO-like features such as hosting and the ability to interact with other players at any time.
The similarities with Pokémon are everywhere, from the mechanics of training, breeding, capture, and evolution to the game’s turn-based combat system, with 12 types of creatures and their respective strengths and weaknesses. Even Team Rocket has its equivalent, the Belsoto Clan that will be playing its part all over the land and the eight leaders of the Dojo.
Temtem is being developed by Crema, which expects to launch the game on Steam Early Access in September 2019 exclusively for PCs. Developers have announced that they will also develop a version of Nintendo Switch if they raise more than $250,000 in Kickstarter. Temtem’s current funding target is $70,000, with more than $12,000 raised so far thanks to contributions from around 300 sponsors. There are 33 days left to reach your goal.
The question that remains is whether Nintendo can and will take action on the matter, as it must be acknowledged that Temtem is a very brazen copy of Pokémon.
