Steam says it’s ‘happy’ to partner with Microsoft to put Xbox Game Pass for PC on its store

Valve is not averse to a partnership with Microsoft. Microsoft has its own Xbox app for Windows that lets you install your own games and other PC games, such as Destiny 2. The two services compete with each other, but, according to an interview seen on PC Gamer, it’s possible that Microsoft and Valve could put the PC version of Xbox Game Pass on the Steam store together. Steam’s chief executive says it wouldn’t be a bad thing to integrate Xbox Game Pass into its gaming platform. That’s mostly because Steam doesn’t want to have its own subscription service.

Valve could integrate Xbox Game Pass into Steam

So such an option, integrating another company’s subscription service, is not something they would rule out or consider a bad option.

Plans

In fact, Steam is already planning to integrate it, or at least they have already figured out a way for Xbox Game Pass to be integrated into their platform. So in the event that this collaboration or agreement with Microsoft does eventually become a reality, they already have a plan to make it happen. However, this also depends on user interest, so it may be a while yet.

It would undoubtedly be an added value to Valve‘s platform. It would be the first external platform to integrate Microsoft’s subscription service.

It remains to be seen if Valve’s wish or idea for Steam will become reality. In any case, they are very positive about a possible collaboration with Microsoft, so we may know more about these plans in a few months.
