Intel is unlucky because its processors have again found loopholes, some of which have been described as dangerous. Some of the infringements are similar to Spectre, which was mentioned earlier this year. That’s why they were called Spectre NG. Experts say that the selected vulnerabilities may also apply to systems based on ARM architecture.
Intel processors have new loopholes similar to Spectre
Intel will be struggling again with patches for its own processors. The company has not yet managed to solve all the problems it encountered earlier this year with Meltdown and Spectre, and more are coming here. The new risks are described as Spectre NG (a new generation).
Professionals have found new vulnerabilities in Intel processors and some (exactly four) of them have been marked as serious threats. This is why they have been prioritised. These are similar deficiencies to Spectre and are therefore called Spectre NG. Intel is already working on patches and patches are to be shared by waves. The first amendments should be available later this month.
Problems may also arise with ARM-based processors to some extent, but the details are not known. It is unknown what is the case with AMD chips. However, if you plan to modernize your computer, it is worth looking around at the current prices of processors, which are still cheap in shops.
