The shuttle is well known for its small size solutions and today has introduced its new SZ270R8 XPC Cube chassis, to which we will only have to add a GPU, CPU, RAM and storage devices since the chassis has a heatsink, motherboard and power supply included. This new version stands out for its Intel Optane support within a manufacturer’s proprietary Z270 motherboard that includes three M.2 slots (one of smaller length below one of the two in the image).

SZ270R8 XPC Cube storage
As for standard storage, we have room for four 3.5 “units in a removable rack just above the motherboard.
If we remove the assembly of hard disks we will have a much more open space available in the interior. That will allow us to install GPU of up to 280mm. The installed heatsink has a block and four heat pipes. That connect it to a radiator in the back that already has incorporated an 80mm fan.
Shuttle has included a 500W power supply which ensures that we can equip an Intel Core i7 processor. And up to a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080, a fairly good configuration for small and compact equipment.
The new SZ270R8 should already be available in European stores for a price of € 320 (without taxes) and you can check more details from the manufacturer’s own website.
