New SSD comes to the market under the code name of SanDisk Ultra 3D SSD. Western Digital has started to monetize its investment in SanDisk, putting on sale a new Ultra 3D series. That uses the NAND 3D memory manufactured by the company. These memory chips are type TLC 64 layers. These are economical, but as is the current market as means at least are not theft at gun point but quasi.
Hard Drive Technology 2017
This series is now available in capacities of 250 GB, 500 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB, in 2.5-inch disk format. The driver used is a Marvell 88SS1074. That uses an LPDC (low-density parity check) error correction algorithm. It also uses other settings, such as communications. But it allows increasing the durability of SSDs with TLC memory significantly. That is more prone to wear of programming-erase cycles.
SanDisk Ultra 3D SSD High Durability
The durability of these SSDs remains a little above the average. Although even now the FTAs maintain a healthy level. The random read-write speed is quite good, with 95,000 IOPS read and 84,000 IOPS write, and up to 560 MB/sec sequential read and 530 MB/sec sequential write. The PVPR starts from 100 $ for the 250GB model to 550 $ for the 2TB model. Since they are newly put up for sale, their PVP still has to be adjusted.
