Samsung introduces the SmartThings Tracker for finding your lost items in home or office. Nowadays, many Bluetooth devices allow us to find out the location of our personal belongings. But the problem is that these devices do not have a permanent internet connection, so they only allow us to find our items in the presence of another person who is also using the vendor’s product and application. Samsung has developed an improved version of this type of gadget that allows us to be informed of the location of our belongings at all times.
How does SmartThings Tracker work?
As the company says, the new SmartThings Tracker leverages the potential of technologies like GPS and LTE-M connectivity so we can find lost objects like keys, backpacks, suitcases or anything else we can think of. And, as you can imagine, the enormous potential of these technologies lies in the fact that, unlike Bluetooth devices, Samsung’s model works even when we are miles away from our property.
However, the SmartThings Tracker does not just work as a device to track the location of our personal items. In addition, we can also use it as Destination Sensor when we have the SmartThings hub at home, allowing us to use features such as automatically turning on the lights when we get home, or activating a security camera when we leave.
Certainly, it’s a very interesting release from Samsung, and we’re sure that it will attract the attention of many of you. As for the price, SmartThings Tracker is marketed for $99, but you must remember that a monthly payment must be made to the phone company to use the LTE connection. Currently, it is only marketed in the USA.
