Samsung Odyssey G7 Curved Gaming Monitor Launched Globally

In early 2020, Samsung introduced the new Odyssey range, which includes the G9 and G7 models, two monitors with a 1000R curvature in 32:9 and 16:9. The manufacturer now announces the availability of the smaller Odyssey G7.

The curved monitors are no longer really a novelty, even though they are far from reaching the desks of all players. Curved displays are supposed to be based on the curvature of the human eye and therefore are easier to see in the long run than flat displays. Technology is constantly evolving, and Samsung has now introduced the first mass-market gaming monitor with a 1000R curvature.

The Odyssey series models were first shown at the CES 2020 in Las Vegas, where Samsung introduced the huge 32:9 Odyssey G9 monitor as well as the smaller 16:9 Odyssey G7. As for the latter, the South Korean manufacturer has announced a launch date: The Curved Gaming Monitor will be available worldwide from June 2020.

The Samsung Odyssey G7 is therefore the first model with a particularly strong 1000R curve on the market and brings with it even more high-end gaming features. The monitor will be available in 32- and 27-inch versions, each with a QLED panel with up to 240 hertz and a response time of one millisecond. The G7 resolves to QHD (2,560 x 1,440p), is G-SYNC compatible, and offers FreeSync Premium Pro. While its big brother is HDR1000 certified, the G7 manages with the HDR600.

Samsung has yet to comment on the availability of the large Odyssey G9, whose screen area corresponds to two 16:9 monitors. The manufacturer also continues to owe prices on both models.
