According to a source from China, the RTX 4080 graphics card will receive a price cut in the middle of this month, on the occasion of the launch of AMD’s RX 7900 series.
Nvidia RTX 4080 would get a price cut in mid-December
Reports from Chinese Board Channels are claiming that Nvidia’s RTX 4080 is going to receive an imminent price cut in the coming weeks, to counter the launch of the RX 7900 XT and XTX, which are priced lower than Nvidia’s GPU.
We know that the RTX 4080 graphics card has been released with a rather hefty price tag of$1199, up from $899 and $999 for the RX 7900 XT and RX 7900 XTX.
According to boardchannels, RTX 4080 will be adjusted in price in mid-Dec.
However, the source emphasized price cut isn’t afraid of RDNA 3 but from its own considerations. Price is appropriately reduced to improve the price-perf ratio and stimulate sales.

The reason for the cut would be due to the impending competition from the Radeon RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT graphics cards. Apparently, the performance of the RX 7900 seems to be equal or superior to those of this model, so a cut is almost mandatory if Nvidia wants this graphics card to succeed.
If this is true and Nvidia cuts the price of this model, it would also be impacting the price of the RTX 4070 Ti to be launched in January. It was speculated that this GPU would cost $899, but this cut completely changes the plans. How much of a price cut will it be? It’s hard to say at this point.
The RTX 4080 launched with around 16GB of GDDR6X memory, a whopping 9728 CUDA cores, and a clock speed of 5.1 GHz. The model already received a small rebate in the European market, but that’s not enough to raise interest.
