RTX 3080 GPUs Repurposed for the Chinese Market as AI Cards
The RTX 3080 graphics cards are being repurposed and modified for the Chinese market, serving as AI cards, mirroring the fate of the RTX 3090.
Key Features of RTX 3080 AI
The RTX 3080 boasts impressive capabilities for artificial intelligence, thanks to its 20 GB of GDDR6X memory. Similar to the RTX 3090, this model is undergoing modifications for compatibility with server environments, featuring a blower-type cooling system distinct from regular models with multiple fans.
There is a significant number of 3080 AI models, each equipped with 20 GB of GDDR6X memory, currently available on Aliexpress. These graphics cards bear only the ‘GeForce RTX’ name without any additional branding.
Speculations suggest that these graphics cards may be repurposed mining GPUs, possibly sourced through the Xianyu second-hand e-commerce platform owned by Alibaba.
The RTX 3080 features a base clock of 1440 MHz and a boost clock of 1710 MHz, identical to the reference model. The GPU also offers three DisplayPort outputs and an HDMI output, requiring two 8-pin power connectors for operation.
While the original model had configurations with 10 and 12 GB, these modified models come with a capacity of 20 GB, well-suited for artificial intelligence tasks. Please note that these models are exclusively available in the Chinese market, and we will keep you informed of any updates.
