The GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card has also been listed with GDDR6X memory after the RTX 3060 Ti was also listed with this type of high-speed graphics memory. Will Nvidia finally release this variant?
RTX 3060 will also have a variant with GDDR6X memory
A retailer is listing this RTX 3060 graphics card, but with an upgraded GDDR6X memory: Lenovo RTX3060 12GB GDDR6X. The retailer is a Lenovo OEM parts seller, so this seems almost like a confirmation that this model is officially going to be released.
The model seen here has a 12GB GDDR6X capacity and not 8GB, which was rumored. This information joins that of the RTX 3060 Ti Founders Edition, which had also been listed with a memory of the GDDR6X type.
The addition of GDDR6X memory adds more bandwidth and more memory speed, which benefits graphics cards, although we doubt it represents substantial performance. In addition, higher speeds also require more power to operate. However, the boost clock is still 1.78 GHz and the maximum power consumption seems to be the same at 170 W.
We should note that this could also be a typo in the listing, as the product code is indicating that it is a GDDR6 model, so take this information with a grain of salt until it can be confirmed by other sources. We’ll keep you posted for updates.
