Resident Evil 8 would be called Resident Evil 8: Village, following Ethan Winters’ story

Recent rumors initially confirm that it will be released in 2021. Most importantly, we are hearing that Resident Evil 8 will be called Resident Evil Village.

Rumors suggest that the next episode of the Resident Evil saga will be entitled “Village”. This is probably a temporary title, which means it is subject to change.

There are also rumors about the characters involved in Resident Evil 8. First of all, the main character is probably the same as in Resident Evil 7, Ethan Winters. Chris Redfield is also back, and he will play an important role in the game. It seems that we will see him in flashbacks related to Ethan and his girlfriend Mia.

Ethan and Mia have a baby now, but it’s not clear how this will affect the narrative. Chris won’t look like he did the last time we saw him either. This time he’ll look less heroic than before. We’ll get to see him shoot Ethan and Mia in one of the flashbacks.

Resident Evil 8, Resident Evil 8 would be called Resident Evil 8: Village, following Ethan Winters’ story,

According to the report published by our colleagues in the Video Game Chronicle, Resident Evil 8 would use the first-person perspective like its predecessor. Recently, the re-releases of Resident Evil 2 & 3 had somewhat abandoned the FPS perspective.

Returning to the game would mean a desire for more immersion for the player, and a possible episode in virtual reality would decrease. According to the information, new mechanisms would be introduced in Resident Evil 8. Very little information was given on this subject.

Other details tell of one of the enemies of the game, a witch who manipulates insects and can disappear in a cloud of them if we defeat her. She should appear for the first time at a demonstration of the game.

Finally, it seems that Capcom will experiment again with the concept of inventory management. It’s testing an RE7-style interface alongside an RE4-style interface.

The latter suggests that RE4 could also get a remake. However, nothing is known for sure yet. We will definitely keep you informed.

If this information is correct, we may know more about the future of Resident Evil by the end of the month. Since Resident Evil 7 was introduced in 2017, a new game next year is quite plausible.
