Capcom reported that Resident Evil 3 remake sold two million copies worldwide in five days. The new Resident Evil 3 is a reinvented version of the 1999 Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, which sold approximately 3.5 million units.
The new game incorporates fresh ideas and uses the latest technology using Capcom’s RE graphics engine. The title not only rejuvenates the original story and environment but also offers new gaming experiences. Players will enjoy not only the single-player campaign mode but also a multiplayer mode. Finally, RE3R comes with Resident Evil Resistance.
The digital versions of the game accounted for almost 50% of sales due to Capcom’s digital promotion strategy. Thanks to this and the free demo, more than two million units were shipped in the first five days after the game’s release.
This success follows the continued sales growth of Resident Evil 2 Remake, of which 6.5 million copies have already been sold.
Capcom is currently working on both Resident Evil 8 and Resident Evil 4 remake.
