It appears that AMD is not going to stand idly by as long as NVIDIA launches its new GTX 20 or GTX 11 graphics cards this year. A new Radeon RX 500X series, nicknamed the Radeon RX 500X, is being developed by the company based in Sunnyvale.
RX 500X would be 5-6% faster than the RX 500 Series
The name alone suggests that this would be an updated series of the current RX 500 (RX 580 – 570 – etc.) to bridge the gap between NVIDIA’s new mid- and low-range releases.
The year will be a much quieter one for new graphics card releases since NVIDIA will continue to lead and dominate with the GTX 11 (or GTX 20) series that will mark the start of GDDR6 memory, but what about AMD?
Sources from industry, AMD will launch a new family of Radeon RX 500X series, which should be about 5-6% faster than the RX 500X series. The updated set would offer nothing new at the silicon level, but we assume it would improve energy consumption and temperatures, which, in turn, should help to increase frequencies.
Radeon RX 500X graphics cards to be launched by AMD in 2018
At present, in the high range, AMD has the RX VEGA series, but the RX 500 series is where it sells the most. New updated and optimized cards could be a smart decision, as they prepare the successors of the VEGA series.
It has been reported that AMD will launch the Radeon RX 500X series between June and July.
