It’s been just one year since GitHub introduced the GitHub Marketplace, something we talked about at the time. In case you haven’t noticed, GitHub Marketplace is the developer application store for GitHub, the collaborative development platform used by millions of programmers today.
As we told you at the time, GitHub’s goal in launching the Github Marketplace was to provide a place for programmers to access tools to help them develop their own apps. Although many users were surprised by the movement at the time, today the marketplace is a success.
Now, the company is celebrating the store’s first anniversary by offering Github Marketplace access to more developers. In particular, GitHub will allow any programmer with free software to promote it in the application store, something that was not possible until now.
Today, Github Marketplace already has over 100,000 users and contains 50 different types of tools, all designed to facilitate and improve the workflow of software developers. Undoubtedly, thanks to the opening of the store to a larger number of users and the free tools, we will soon see these figures grow significantly.
