Dell has announced several new business laptops and mobile workstations, including the Precision 5530 and Precision 5530 2-in-1. Both powerful mobile PCs will be available with Intel’s latest 8th generation Core i processors and a 4K Infinity Edge Display and will be very similar to the current XPS 15 or XPS 15 2-in-1.
Precision 5530 (2-in-1): Dell Introduces New Business Notebooks
Twins: Dell’s new Precision 5530 mobile workstation is closely related to the XPS 15 consumer notebook, but can also be equipped with a Xeon processor and professional graphics solution.
Dell has announced a number of new business laptops and mobile workstations, including the Precision 5530. The latter can be briefly described as an enterprise version of the current XPS 15 and, like the latter will come onto the market in both a classic “clamshell” and a 2-in-1 version.
Like the XPS 15 2-in-1, the Dell Precision 5530 2-in-1 is equipped with an Intel Core i 8th generation processor that combines four CPU cores with an AMD graphics unit on one board. Unlike the Kaby Lake-G chips that Dell uses in the XPS 15 2-in-1, the graphics solution of the processor in the Precision 5530 2-in-1 is not a Radeon RX Vega M, but rather the professional version Radeon Pro WX Vega M.
Other highlights of the Precision 5530 2-in-1 include up to 16 gigabytes of RAM and up to 2 terabytes of NVMe SSD, plus a 15.6-inch 4K InfinityEdge touchscreen that covers 100% of the Adobe RGB color space and supports pen input. In terms of design, interfaces and keyboard, the business device is virtually identical to the XPS 15 2-in-1.
The regular Precision 5530 without 360-degree hinge is very similar to the regular XPS 15, a compact mobile workstation with the same chassis design as its XPS sister model and can also boast Intel’s new Hexa-Core 8th Generation CPUs (Coffee Lake).
Because the Precision 5530 is focused on the business segment, Dell also offers the notebook with a Xeon CPU and a dedicated graphics solution of the type Nvidia Quadro P2000 on request. The professional graphics unit then replaces the commonly used Nvidia GeForce GTX variants. The manufacturer also uses a 4K InfinityEdge display and up to 32 gigabytes of RAM and an SSD with a maximum capacity of 4 terabytes.
The new Precision 5530 notebook will be available from Dell on May 22, 2018, but the Precision 5530 2-in-1 will be available later in the summer of 2018. Other new products from the US company include the Dell Precision 3530, 7730 and 7530 workstation notebooks and the Latitude 5491 and 5591 business laptops, all of which Dell plans to make available to customers as of May 22, 2018.
