The social networking giant Facebook has posted photos of the new generation of its VR headset. The Oculus Quest 2 can be seen in it, which is supposed to offer some improvements in contrast to its predecessor. The most significant is probably the stronger processor and the higher resolution.

Founder Mark Zuckerberg’s company has released two videos showing the upcoming Oculus Quest 2. In the new generation, Facebook is not only focusing on sharper resolution and higher performance. In addition, the corresponding VR headset drivers have been reworked. Facebook published the videos on its own marketing website. However, an official presentation is still missing. From tomorrow, Wednesday 16 September 2020, the Facebook Connect will take place, a presentation can be expected in this context. To ensure that the marketing website videos do not anticipate too much information, the company has removed the videos from its site for the time being.
Powerful Processor of Oculus Quest 2
In the search for Oculus 2, the powerful dragon XR2 is expected in operation. It was developed specifically for VR or AR headsets. Especially compared to the processor of the previous model a significant increase in performance can be expected. After all, only the Snapdragon 835 was used in the first generation. The Snapdragon XR2 supports 6 GB of RAM. The memory of the new VR headset is supposed to be 256 GB. The basic principle should not change in Egg Search 2. Unlike competitive products, no external hardware is needed. The headset works independently. But a connection to the computer is also possible. The USB output is used for this.
Clearer screen
The Oculus Quest 2 has been downsized from its predecessor. It is not only lighter but also smaller than the first generation of the stand-alone VR headset. But Facebook has not only changed its size. Peripherals have been revised as well. In particular, the company has improved the ergonomics of the two drivers. Most users will probably be satisfied with the higher screen resolution. After all, a clear display in the VR headset always makes for better immersion. The Oculus Quest 2 should now offer 2K resolution. Therefore, the display is 50% sharper than it was with the first generation. We still don’t know which panel Facebook will use and how high the refresh rate will be.
