The Oculus Medium 2.0 update adds functionality and creative features to the sculpting program. So, what do we get?
Oculus is constantly developing its own software offering. Oculus Rift support for Windows 7 and 8.1 has now been discontinued, but users will also receive new content. The last trick: The free update 2.0 for the VR modelling program Oculus Medium.
Oculus Medium: Update brings new features
Oculus Medium is creative software that allows Oculus Rift users to model three-dimensional objects. Owners of Oculus touch motion controllers can download the program for free in the Oculus Store, otherwise, it costs 29.99 EUR.
In addition to improved performance, the latest update includes a new file management system and an improved user interface. In addition, VR artists now have access to new functions that improve the illumination of their own creations, for example.
There is even more room for creativity on top: From now on we can lay up to 100 virtual layers on top of each other and thus make our models even more detailed.
Furniture for Oculus Home
But what good is the most beautiful VR sculpture if we are not allowed to place it anywhere that attracts the public? Here, too, Oculus provides a remedy. In the course of the latest Rift Core 2.0 update, Californians provided Oculus Home Support for user-generated content in their VR environment.
Thanks to Oculus Medium 2.0 we are now able to export our modelled artistic outpourings directly to Oculus Home and place them in our virtual living room. A nice alternative for all those who do not have the possibility to set up a 3D print of their sculptures in the real living room.
We have collected tips and tricks for the handling of Rift Core 2.0 in a special for you.
