Biostar introduces new NVMe Biostar M500 SSDs with RGB temperature profile

Biostar presents its new SSD M500 family after a demonstration last June. They use the NVMe 1.2 protocol in M.2 format and are available in various capacities. Biostar, a manufacturer of PC components that offers a wide range of products that are very interesting in terms of quality and price, today introduced the new line of solid-state drives Biostar M500 in M.2-2280 format and PCI-Express 3.0 x2 interface.

This M500 is an SSD M.2 NVMe 1.2 that is available in various capacities. The range includes 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB. These units have an appropriate DDR3L cache of 256 MB, 256 MB, 256 MB, 512 MB, 512 MB, 512 MB, 512 MB, and 1 GB. The manufacturer announces rather fast flow rates. The maximum values are 1700 MB/s and 1100 MB/s for sequential reading and writing.

The mechanics are based on NAND Flash 3D TLC memory chips and an unspecified controller. In format 2280 they use a PCIe 3.0 x2 interface.

The Biostar M500 devices include a number of useful innovations, starting with the integrated metal heat sink wrapped around three sides of the device. At the end of the device, there are two LED indicators, one is green for link/activity and the other is an RGB LED that indicates the real-time temperature measured on the controller, with red indicating the warmest, green the coldest and yellow the typical temperature.

– Biostar M500 128 GB: 1500 MB/s read, 550 MB/s write
– Biostar M500 256 GB: read 1600 MB/s, write 900 MB/s
– Biostar M500 512 GB: read 1700 MB/s, write 1100 MB/s

This SSD is promised between 59 and 269 US dollars depending on capacity.
