We are experiencing a graphics card shortage such as we’ve rarely seen before, but that hasn’t stopped Nvidia’s RTX 3070 from becoming the best-selling GPU of the month of March, according to Valve’s latest hardware poll.

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 has managed to move up a few positions in Steam’s hardware poll, gaining an additional 0.17% market share in less than a month. This also means that this is the graphics card that has gained the most in the month of March and is one of the best-selling cards in this period.
The other graphics card that has grown the most in its share of Steam users is the GTX 1650 with 0.15%.
Nvidia’s RTX 3070 debuted last October and has become a more than adequate GPU to handle any video game at a cheaper price than the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 graphics cards, which offer higher performance but at a much more expensive price.
This GPU has 5888 CUDA cores, 8 GB of VRAM, and a TDP of 220 W. With Ampere technology behind it, it supports ray tracing and DLSS 2.0 technology to improve performance at the expense of image sharpness.
This behavior is unusual considering that this model is either hard to come by or comes with a very high price tag. Traditionally, the most popular graphics cards are the mid-range and entry-level ones. The GTX 1060, 1050 Ti, GTX 1650, RX 570, and RX 580 are usually the best sellers, so this performance from the RTX 3070 seems to be more of a matrix anomaly than something common.
