Nvidia RTX 2070 SUPER integrates SLI support. It can be argued that the RTX 2070 SUPER is not a “standard” RTX 2070, but a type of different silicon, a new PCB/cooler design and support for features that are not available in the original RTX 2070. One of these features is SLI support. EK confirmed that the RTX 2070 SUPER is compatible with its RTX 2080 Founders Edition water blocks, confirming that the RTX 2070 SUPER is much closer to its big brother, the RTX 2080, than the RTX 2070 that bears its name.
However, the addition of this feature was not reported in most reviews of the RTX 2070 SUPER. Which means we’ll be able to mount a multi-GPU with two GeForce RTX 2070s for better graphics performance.
Is it worth buying multiple Nvidia RTX 2070 SUPERs to take advantage of a Multi-GPU?
Based on the RTX 2080, the RTX 2070 SUPER adds a larger cooler, a more robust PCB and support for a feature that Nvidia has gradually removed from its low-end models, SLI. This allows Nvidia users to access the multi-GPU RTX performance at a much lower price than their original RTX 2080, which is great news for multi-GPU enthusiasts.
Although a multi-GPU system seems like a good idea, you must remember that it’s not too common and not supported in all games. Before making a payment for two RTX 2070 graphics cards for use in SLI, you need to look at future reviews that may come up to see if the performance gain pays off.
The RTX 2070 SUPER and its junior brother, the RTX 2060 SUPER, will be launched on July 9.
